Overdrive

Asked by CarloJ63 Nov 02, 2007 at 04:04 AM about the 2002 Ford Escape

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Overdrive off light blinks constantly.  And the car does not go into the gas saving mode (4th gear).  What is the problem?  It runs good otherwise.

you may want to take to dealer on this one, could be a bad sensor or internal problem.

The O/D light blinking is telling you that overdrive is inoperative. It is probably a solenoid in the transmission. You'll need a dealership or a mechanic to access the codes for the TCM (transmission control module) to solve this one.
