EPC..Electronic Power Control. Here are some threads you might want to look at and see which best fits your trouble: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4878458-EPC-light-came-on ....and http://www.vwforum.com/forums/f15/epc-light-49944/ ....what you have is also known as 'drive by wire' the throttle, gas pedal has no cable or any linkage. It is a sort of potentiometer that sends an electric signal to the ECU and in turn to throttle body .

Looking for a way to re set it, everybody agrees, try disconnecting the negative battery cable for at least 20 minutes, It should go off, but if it comes back on after a few start and run/off cycles, it needs a mechanic, and a mechanic educated about 'drive by wire' and not all are. Dealer is.

Thank you very much. I actually disconnected the battery and the light went off but after driving it for about 30min the EPC indicator came up again, took it to mechanic to diagnose and he said cambelt sensor needs to be replace. Any idea please?????

There is no such thing a s a 'cambelt sensor" you must have misunderstood. Or the mechanic doesn't know what he is talking about..or trying to pull a fast one on you just to get in to your wallet. There is a camshaft position sensor, a timing belt that drives the camshaft, but no 'belt sensor' He must have meant camshaft position sensor. I can't find any images that are not copyrighted, so I can't post it, they would just delete it quite quickly. But in any case, that has nothing whatsoever to do with the EPC, that is the throttle. Are you having any performance problems..... runs and accelerates Okay? If I were in your position I would go to another mechanic, and before signing any service order and authorizing work, make sure he knows how to work on EPC systems, and if in doubt you may have to bite the proverbial bullet and pay the extra cost of a dealer. Those technicians are trained in the EPC and the corner do~all mechanic is probably not.

Camshaft sensor faults will show P0008 through P0015 and P0020 to P0025 ..... Take a look at http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/ and click VW near the top of the page

thanks david I think you are very right. from the diagnosis paper I can see something like CODE 001. 17748 P1340 G40/engine e too speed sensor - small G28: incorrect allocation and CODE 002. 16725 P0341 camshaft position sensor (A) circuit bank 1:range performance My question now is that do I have to change 2 sensors or what?. thanks

This explains it far better than I can..and you might consider going to the link for more.......... A camshaft sensor is an 8-volt hall-effect switch used to signal the computer the position of the number-1 intake valve and the speed of the camshaft. The computer uses this information to regulate fuel injection timing. The camshaft sensor is always positioned in front of a wheel that is slotted or has windows attached to the camshaft. As the wheel passes in front of the sensor, it creates an open and closed circu Read more: http://www.ehow.com/how_6686826_change-camshaft-position-sensor.html#ixzz2ZsovWc8F
