I want to remove the 3 speed manual transmission from a 1976 f-100 with the 6 cylinder. Want to put in a 4 speed manual transmission. what would I have to change?

It would depend on the 4 speed. You may have issues with the drive shaft length or the output splines being different. Also the transmission mount might be different. The old clutch may or may not work with the new transmission so check the input splines and the pilot shaft.
