1970 ranchero. Would upper ball joints cause a clunking sound when stopping? I did check tie rods,centerlink,idler, and lower ball joint. But I don't know how to check the upper joint. I had to stop yesterday,6-29-13, because it's just to darn hot out here. I bought this car for my son but now I realize I don't know what I'm doing. My wife informs me of that,lol. 2 Answers

Most of the front end parts are pretty tight. But I gave up on checking the upper ball joint because it just got 106 outside yesterday and I'm not sure how to check it for wear.

I have a 351 Cleveland engine that just wants to backfire through the carb. Checked timing and it appears to be accurate. The intake is a performer with a Holley carb, I think it's a 4160, but I just can't seem to make it sit, the intake, on the engine, without sealing properly. I've tried to seal the intake with black rtv at then ends of the intake won't seal. Replaced the intake gaskets with edlebrock gaskets and didn't use valley pan gasket, still can't get her to seal. It's leaking along the rear, right side intake matting service. I'm lost at what else to do. Help! 2 Answers

i have a 19798 ford ranchero 500 302, just took it out of storage it reversed fine as soon as i went to drive it slips into neutral when it trys to shift to second gear. reverse still works. if i shut car off and restart goes into drive but problem repeats itself, i put a new rearend in last fall before storing could this be something to do with problem? 2 Answers

I got car 2 years ago from estate of a neighbor that owned it since new, was allways maintained and stored and well taken care of, he did tell me a few years back he replace original tranny
