72 ranchero cant keep it running need heip sloving problem, new fuel pump ,filter ,rebuilt carb ,new points plugs ect . whole nine yards!

i get no response from engine when i push gas pedal dies.

Check for vacuum leaks, set the timing and do a compression test.

Sounds like the accelerator pump in the carburetor. With the engine off look down into the carburetor. Open the throttle or have a helper press the accelerator pedal to the floor. You should see a steady stream of gasoline shoot down into the intake manifold. If not, your accelerator pump is bad. HTH. -Jim

Check for back pressure from the exhaust. Kids used to jam a potato up the tail pipe, the car wouldn't run. Maybe a collapsed muffler or pipe. Gary
