im considering doing alot of work to it, like changing to new valve system, higher stall converter, rear differential, intake and exhaust and to top it off with a high perf. chip.

Hi adarba, I'm sure it can be done, but it may take some serious work in the conversion process. I would speak to a transmission specialist about all of the details necessary to make this happen. Good luck!
