Bakkie does not want to start after you get the smell of fuel

Asked by GuruLG2HB May 07, 2019 at 06:26 AM about the 2005 Opel Corsa

Question type: General

I have a 2005 Corsa 1.4. It does not want to
start after you get a very strong fuel smell. All
the dash lights come on when you swing the
ignition. It swings string but will not start. The
fuel gauge also shows that there is no fuel I
the rank. There is a full tank but it shows
empty. It is the third time it's doing it to me.
What could be the cause

Sounds like a bad fuel pump to me. When you turn the key to acc position can you hear the fuel pump humming for a few seconds or the relay clicking.? You should be able to hear it priming for a sec or two before it shuts off.
