Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the sensor on my water pump after it was over heating everything went well
but now my a/c fans won't kick in and my temperature gauge doesn't work. I tried buying
a new sensor thinking it was defective but it still doesn't work.

Is your explorer a V6? I just changed the pump and sensor on my 2003 and the sensor was on the plastic thermostat housing.

Yes my thermostat is on the plastic housing. I replaced the sensor but now my a/c fans doesn't work or my temp gauge.

I was thinking maybe a fuse since they both went out at the same time, but I don't have fuse box diagram

Check the owners manual, there may be a diagram there. An alternate method is to remove each fuse and visually see if it is blown. You can also use a volt meter if you have one.

I have no clue why your AC fan would stop, but as far as the temp gauge goes, try changing the temp gauge sender unit. I had the same problem with the temp gauge on my uncles 1998
