1963 fairlane

Asked by Dec 11, 2016 at 04:00 PM about the 1963 Ford Fairlane

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 63 fairlane 260 3 speed manual
and need help figuring out why my engine
revs very high when I let out my clutch and
I'm barley moving forward. Could it be
something as simple as changing fluids or
is my clutch going out?

In 63 there were no hydraulic clutches in the Ford line of cars. Check the clutch adjustment rod, if it is all the way back then it is time for a clutch replacement. And compared to todays cars that job is a piece of cake to a tech, even a novice with rudimentary knowledge can do one. And remember to change the tranny grease while it is out for the clutch.
