I had a Maverick, don't recall a round plastic device with several hoses coming out. The only round device was the carbon canister but it only had 2 and one of then was a fiber tube that went to the air cleaner assembly. A picture would be nice.

The device is located at the rear of the car, drivers side mounted on the inside of the rear quarter panel, has 4 hoses coming out, and if you move the plastic device it begins to leak gas. Not sure what this device does but it causes a gas smell in the car so bad it burns your eyes, comes in from the trunk area.

Part of the EVAP system, possibly the purge valve.

California model fuel system vapor surge tank, the system must not be working, vacuum from the engine is suppose to keep the tank relatively dry.
