I don't believe so. Under Federal Regulations 1972 model new cars had to be equipped with energy absorbing front and rear bumpers. The '72 bumpers are basically mounted to little shock absorbers which are mounted to the frame of the car. '71 bumpers are mounted directly to the frame. It's a different set up. HTH. - Jim

71 and 72 are most definitely interchangeable. The 5 mph bumper regulation didn't start until 1973 and then it was phased in slowly. Trying to swap a 72 to 73-76 is where you will have issues.
