Replaced spark plugs, now car won't start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently replaced the spark plugs in my
1968 Ford Galaxie 500. Before I did this, the
car started right up. After I replaced them, I
could not get the car to start. It wants to
start, but I do not get a spark. After taking
them out and replacing them, I got the car to
start ONCE. Then again it won't start and I
don't have a spark.
I disconnected the battery.  I replaced each
spark plug one at a time, I know each is in
order.
It seems to me maybe I have a bad
connection somewhere? Where should I
look?

Did you check the spark plug gap before installing ?

I didn't adjust the spark plug gap, but the old ones weren't adjusted according to the book and they worked fine. This is probably a stupid question, but would the spacing actually prevent the car from starting? It's such a minute difference?

Plugs come pre-gapped for average conditions. Your gap might be different, but this difference alone will not cause no-fire. Did you do anything to the coil wire or the distributor points; that's the gap that could do this and you should use a dwell meter? I'd look there. You might even have a coil going out. BTW Nice "68.

Did you get some of the plug wires on the wrong plug? Is the coil wire plugged in?

All plug wires are correct. I did each spark plug one at a time to avoid that.

I didn't touch the cool wire or distributor points. I guess I can check it anyway. Thanks for your help. Any other ideas would be great as well.
