they go to a voltage regulator, located on the drivers side wheelwell as I recall....could be passenger, power, field coils and warning lite are the three wires, from memory...nowadays you don't need them but for a one wire alternator that puts out DC with six alternator diodes and some regulating semiconductors---one wire, charlie-

see I thought 3 wires, but apparently there's four two in and two out, thanks H25...set the record straight once again...

wait, your sexy complicated drawing shows four, the simplifed one shows three...one has to look at the actual device, remember stuck in the desert trying to find a voltage regulator for a 62 buick but could only find a junker ford unit...it was then I discovered there are more than one way to do the same exact thing...and Ford and GM will go out of their way to be different....even if it makes no sense at all~

Fortunately there are now solid-state units that do not have the clacky spools...."that's how you know they're working"...if you're a puritain will insist on the clickity-clack ones rather than the efficient solid-state ones~

It frustrates me that the "one wire" alternator offers no trip-lite from when things start to go under 12 Volts..was working on one the other day and the guy just had to know where each of the wires went and what to do to affect the same causality of the generator, for the alternator...at first I asked him to take the unit off and throw it in the garbage can...then I realized the warning lite is driven by this device, so I asked him to just use the secondary off the regulator which still drives the light and connect his one-wire unit to the secondary of the regulator...you'd have to see the post...can dig it up if interested~

It's harder to put a claw into that if it is one of your own screen snaps, though kinda low-impact gets the job done and is so low of a quality, that mgmt, has no issues with this...only had two images removed, one was MY 61 Cadillac apparently it looked like someone else's parked IN FRONT of MY house, the other was a naughty picture or rei komida, yes this one had no business on a car site...yah~

...apologies...that voltage regulator was for the instrument panel...Did buy and install a solid state voltage regulator for our 61 Buick and just assumed that one of these existed for the Galaxie too, it probably does, but haven't been able to put a paw to it~ again apologies for any confusion this dis-information may have caused...I'll buy you a coffee~
