Too much clutch pedal free play

Asked by Jun 29, 2018 at 04:43 PM about the 2004 Ford Escape

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 2004 Ford Eacape, 2.0 engine,
FWD with 120,000 miles.

Recently the clutch pedal, on occasion,
would rise past its regular position by
about 1 inch. We could push back into
place. But as of yesterday, the pedal is
now in this expended position. Shifting and
use of the pedal/clutch continue to
function normally.

The brake fluid is full and I've checked the
hard lines and rubber hoses in the engine
compartment and there is no leaking or
loss of fluid.

I would be grateful for some guidance here
as I'm not sure what other variables to
consider.

Thank You,

Jeff
