Rapid fall of fuel gauge after fill up

Just filled my '04 ford escape up and within 4.4
miles the gauge dropped to 3/4 of a tank. Check
engine light is on,#1 cylinder show misfires.
Would this cause this problem?

A heavy float on the sending unit which is with the fuel pump or a weak ground to the sending unit

Just filled my 2014 Ford Escape up, then when I stated driving the fuel mileage gauge keeps lowering and then going back up, repeatedly.
