Engine tapping top side

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can oil sending unit cause engine tapping and low
oil pressure? I replaced oil pump and sending unit
about 3 months ago and truck ran fine and oil
pressure was good..2 days ago oil pressure
suddenly drops low at idle and today engine starts
tapping. Noticed oil sending unit is loose..

Engine noise can be an indication of low oil pressure. I would believe the gauge.
