Fob Falls Out

Asked by Jan 04, 2017 at 05:15 AM about the 2005 BMW 1 Series

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've recently bought a 55 plate 1 series and
as I went to drive off the other day the fob
fell out of the ignition. I assumed I'd not
put it in correctly, however when I went to
put it back in, I realised it wasn't locking in.
Does anyone know how much this will cost
to fix and if a local mechanic would be able
to do it or whether I'll have to go to a BMW
dealer?

Unless the local mechanic knows how to work on BMW then yes, I would take it to an auto locksmith, I'm thinking a few hundred to repair it.
