Looking @ an amazing '99 acura cl 3.0

Asked by jodeli Mar 31, 2011 at 02:28 AM about the 1999 Acura CL

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I have read HUNDREDS of glowing reviews and now suddenly, just as I about about to buy it, I have become aware of a transmission problem.  I am scared to death about this issue!  It is in absolutely beautiful condition and has 122,000 on it.  Asking price is 3995.  Should I take the risk?  Should I bother to mention it to my husband?  I cannot find ANY information regarding the actual percentage of these transmissions that have failed?
Now I am second guessing my decision to buy it!  Somebody help!  Email me @ rogercorrell@zoominternet.net. Thanks in advance!

most cars in the junkyard that aren't wrecked have running engines and bad transmissions. In this case the replacement transmission is almost as much as what they are asking for the car. It would be smart to walk away.

I can''t help thinking the same thing. It sure drove nice tho. I am now looking at an 4wd 2001 Explorer 2 door Sport. Half the miles and I know where it was serviced its whole life. it has all the luxury bells and whistles of the Acura, but my husband sure would appreciate it more. Costs more too, but seems a better choice.
