I have a 175k on my 'teg but my mechanic is still putting in conventional oil, I read up on how synthetic oil should be put in after about 90k. Is it too late to switch? Or should I go ahead and make the transition?
I've never heard of switching. My 98 has 173K and I still use 5W30. It does burn oil though, so maybe the synthetic would help with that? I've driven about 3100 miles in 6 months.
Go with a thicker viscosity n add some lucas oil treatment.. i wouldnt switch to syn or even a blended version. Due to high mileage the molecular structure of syn is smaller than reg oil , in plan terms it will slip thru gaps quicker than conventional oil

I HAVE A 91 ACURA INTEGRA LS AND IT HAS A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF OIL LEAKING FROM A FLAT CIRCULAR BLACK PIECE OF PLASTIC RESTING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE.
