Right gear to drive in

Asked by Apr 15, 2019 at 08:39 AM about the 2001 Acura CL

Question type: General

What gear should I be driving my automatic 2001
Acura CL in d4 or d5

1 Answer

Most people just put it in D5 for everything. If you like to use the engine for more control, especially braking, you may select a gear that fits your style of driving; selecting gears based on performance. I prefer to drive my cars in Drive; one-to-one ratio, and downshift to assist braking. Then when going higher speeds, like a continuous fifty or higher, shift to Overdrive.
