454 from 77 gmc truck

Asked by Aug 01, 2018 at 12:01 PM about the 1977 GMC Sierra

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I may have thrown a rod in my 77 GMC Sierra truck’s 454
stock motor (not a mechanic but assuming worse case) ...
I’m curious to engine options to replace ... thinking it
would be nice to have a smaller motor since it’s a daily
driver when working and it’s a serious gas hog, but not
sure if switching motor size is more hassle and cost than
it’s worth. Auto transmission FYI.
