How much is to repair a broke valve in the head?

I am from Hungary and i have a camaro which broke down by a "broken valve in the head".This is what the mechanic guy said. He would repair it for $1700 but i dont know that is it ok or too much for this work?Please help because i am a foreign and i dont really know the prices? Thank you very much
