I lost reverse on my 5 speed... the shifter won't go into the gear

When I shift my transmission into reverse, it seems the shifter just won't go into the gear... the other gears work just fine.  I thought the linkage was out of adjustment, but cannot see the levers externally from under the car...

That link talked about 5th gear or overdrive... my problem is that the shifter itself will not go into reverse... all other gears seem fine 1-5... just reverse seems like there is something blocking the shifter from going to that gear.
