73 Nova with a 400 CID 3 speed Oil change best oil
I recently bought this Nova from a consignment
dealer and really dont know much about it, except
it has 3400 miles since rebuild, first muscle car!.
the car seems to be in good shape mechanically.
And havent got the time to take it to this
restoration shop near me. im just in doubt on
which is the best oil for it. Any good tips?
I am running Amsoil 10w30 synthetic oil in my Chevy 350 400 hp engine with only 5000 miles on it. In doing research on this oil, looks to be the best. So far there are no issues except a tiny oil leak at my front crank seal. Synthetic oil will find its way out if there is a weak point, vs your regular conventional oil.
Rowefast is running Amsoil? I had that suspicion.... Probably a 10w40 is appropriate in a name brand either conventional or synthetic. I avoid the cult oils, the oils that are not readily available and the ones they have to dye purple to sell.
Good Morning Bob, Amsoil is readily available in my town. The research speaks for itself. I'd rather use something else because of the price of this sh*t, but it was one of those things a smart cookie I know recommend to use at the time of when I built my motor. I know there are other great oils out there. Just so you know, I started a new job, today I have to be to work for 9:00 AM.
Amsoil is good stuff, just not readily available around here and damned expensive. Good luck with the new job!
Thanks Bob, yea, I'm up to the good stuff, 25,000 mile increments for oil change, the trick is to change out the oil filter a couple of times, $10.65 1 quart. I doubt I'll go that far on a oil change, just plan on doing it once a year for the miles I put on my truck.
