Van won't start

Asked by Feb 01, 2019 at 10:30 AM about the 2005 Ford Freestar

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I put a new battery in my van 6 months ago a
month before I put a new starter on.  Everything's
been fine until 6 days ago. Had to run errands so I
go out to my van and it's dead. Jumped it and it
took right off. Next day everything was fine. The
day after that, had to get a jump. An the day after
that it needed another jump only this time it will
not start. It's been cold here single digits so I
bought a 850cca battery  and it still won't start.  I'm
thinking alternator.  Any suggestions???

Right. The alternator isn't keeping up with the battery. Go to a car parts store and have the alternator checked, have the alternator checked. Have the battery checked too; you don't know what this has done to it. They'll probably do these checks free.
